Jim's Bio

Hi, I’m Jim Pasztor. I’m 53 years old and live in Denver, Colorado. My wife and I have two daughters; one is married and the other a senior in high school. We also have two shelter dogs, Zoe and Jake. We relocated here two years ago from Greensboro, North Carolina when I accepted a position with the College for Financial Planning. I am an Associate Professor in Financial Planning and Investments. I am responsible for various investment classes in the Masters program at the College, as well as the content for the investment section of the CFP education program.

In 1999 I founded Pasztor & Associates, and became a fee-only financial planner. I work with clients on both an hourly and a retainer basis. Prior to starting my own firm I worked in the investment field for over 16 years, primarily as a branch manager at brokerage firms. I bring over 25 years of experience to the table, and my passion for sound financial planning has led me to obtain my CFP designation (1998) and a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning (2005).

I also have a passion for teaching, and was instrumental in leading the CFP education classes at Guilford College from 2000 – 2005. I have also led numerous classes with various financial firms, and have also taught for the executive programs at Duke, Duquesne, and Fordham Universities.

With the College for Financial Planning I was the lead academic for “Practice Development and Management” – a guide for financial advisors who are considering becoming independent and setting up their own practice. The guide that I use in my practice, “The Music Inside You,” is published as part of this guide. I also worked with others on writing “Diversification of International Holdings in Portfolios.” It has been exciting to see the evolution of the financial planning field, and to be a part of its continuing growth and change. Thanks for visiting Pasztor & Associates website, and we hope to hear from you!
